Still Trying Soap Cupbakes & Holiday Treats

I am still trying my hand at piping soap and making soap cupcakes. These Blackberry Sage soaps were made early October. I filled my 3lb silicone mold and made three cupcakes with the leftover soap. The cupcakes aren't perfect but I was pretty happy with them and wished I had made more than three. The berries are melt & pour made in a silicone mold, the few green leaves I piped, not so well LOL. You can see I did just a bit of piping on the loaf soap, just enough piping to hold the berries.

 I used silicone cupcake baking cups and my silicone loaf mold. The loaf mold requires propping up on the sides once its filled.

I made some more melt & pour embeds for a Holiday Treats soap.

If you look closely at these cupcakes and the Blackberry cupcakes you can see I used a different piping tip.

Because I made more cupcakes (I made 8) I didn't have enough soap to fill my 3lb loaf mold. The 4 soaps below were poured into a drawer organizer (and then cut after unmolding) and luckily I had just enough embeds left over for 4 more soaps. 

These Holiday Treats soaps are fragranced with Gingerbread, Cranberry, Chocolate Chip Cookie and Peppermint. The scent combination is yummy and really does smell like Holiday Treats!

Pumpkin Spice Candle

I bought this mug at a thrift store in the spring and have been saving it for a Pumpkin Spice candle. A few days ago (after having a PSL Latte) I declared it was time to fill it up.

I melted Soy Wax Flakes with some orange candle scraps I'd saved, the wax is always darker in its melted state. This candle is fragranced with Pumpkin Pie and Irish Crème fragrance oils and some Cinnamon essential oil.

The wax set up to a nice pumpkin orange, smells yummy even unlit. That's the great thing about soy wax.

And below I've paired the candle with some Pumpkin Cake soap I made earlier this year, or was it last year :) The soap is made with pumpkin puree and blueberry honey. 

I plan to make more candles this month and they will probably all be coffee/ foodie themed.

Mooncake Press Bath Bombs

I purchased a 100 gram Mooncake Press from ebay and have been playing with the different templates that came with it. Here I'm showing photos on Bath Bombs I've make with 4 different (of 8) templates. The Bath Bombs all weigh about 120 grams each. In the picture above is my 1st batch scented with Pineapple.

 

These ones are Blackberry Sage Tea.

And the pink ones are Black Raspberry Vanilla.

Green with Green Tea. They all have a sprinkling on cosmetic glitter, I put a bit in the mold but you can sprinkle it on after too, and set it with a spritz of rubbing alcohol.

I like just a bit of colour on the top. Originally (with the Pineapple fragrance) I was putting the layer of colour last so it was on the bottom.

Rose Wax Sachets

 

 

I posted some pictures of wax sachets on my Facebook a while ago and finally got around to making some. I used a soap mold, but you can use anything as long as its not too big. Here are mine.

 

I used the Breakaway Hearts Milky Way Mold, this gave me one side with a design. Believe it or not it was tricky to drill a hole in the centre of the hearts though:) So my bits in the sachets are rose petals, lavender buds and artificial greenery (just a bit of the artificial stuff, I wanted a touch of green but no potential of shriveling & shedding).

 



Here's the soy wax after melting and colouring, you can see its a lot brighter in liquid form. You can put a drop on to some freezer paper and check the colour before you pour it.

Here's everything in the molds, it starts to cool and harden fairly quickly. I scented the wax pretty heavily with rose fragrance oil, they are sachets after all. This is a link to the mold, if you're using it for soap you can cut along the lines of the bars and get individual guest soaps with a heart on each soap, but I don't recommend trying that with wax.

These were fun and easy to make and I'm hoping to do some matching candles before Mothers Day.

Bath Bombs + Embeds + Mica Painting

The batch of bath bombs pictured below are hiding pink & purple embeds, sorry you can't see them and I wasn't smart enough to take of picture of them before I placed them in the bombs. I made the embeds with equal parts citric acid and baking soda, plus a fair amount of powdered colourant. They were dampened with rubbing alcohol but witch hazel would work too. I made mine a little too wet and it took a few days for them to dry, they weren't the prettiest but it doesn't matter.

I mixed some micas with alcohol and practiced a little painting on this plain bath bomb I had left over from Christmas. I've used gold, silver mist and purple haze micas.

Then I was brave enough to try it on these hearts. I'm not a good painter so I'm really just highlighting the design on the bath bombs.

The larger hearts I had to do more freehand. These hearts were made in a baking tray.

Here's the tray (from Dollarama) it was $3.00, not sure if its for cookies or cupcakes. I'm sure it would make nice Melt & Pour soaps too.

These are the micas mixed with alcohol. If you have any left over it will dry up but you can add more alcohol and use it again.

And below you can see the pink/purple/fizz/foam from the bath bomb. I added polysorbate to my bath bomb mixture which created the foam and also emulsified the colours and the water.
